March newsletter header
This has been a crazy week here where I am in Springfield, MO. One day it was in the 70's and then it plummeted to the 20's with freezing rain and a thundering sleet. I was able to enjoy a day out walking earlier in the week and then spent time hibernating. :)

The world is also experiencing great turmoil with war breaking out over boundaries and ownership of land. It grieves my spirit as I know it does God's. Some humans see these events and become convinced there isn't a God if He would allow such suffering -- or at least not a 'good' deity in their estimation. But for me, it drives me closer to the heart of God as I see man making sinful choices that God allows but never intended. The depravity of mankind is on full display, and as much as we try to pursue peace with human efforts, someone will always wreck it. It makes the biblical account of the fall come to life in real time, exposing our need for rescue and grace. I don't blame God. Instead, I call out to Him in thanks for His plan to redeem all things through the sacrifice of His Son. I intercede for those outside of my reach, and I give it to God. He is sovereign and good, and if I believe that, I have to live it.

It's always been crazy to me how quickly life can turn from joy to sorrow or mountaintop to valley - or vise versa. We can wake up and even within minutes of a text, call, glimpse at the news, or relationship struggle, find ourselves in a very different place. This is why our relationship with God has to be built upon through the daily acts of obedience every day. We need the strength of God to hold us in both good times and bad.

It's challenging to stand firm when we haven't exercised our spiritual muscles. This is the heart of my ministry - to encourage and build up other believers through unfolding and sharing the truths of Scripture. It's important to have the support of all the members of the Body to accomplish what God is doing in the world. What a privilege to be included in His plan!

There are many tensions we walk through as exiles in a strange land, but we don't walk alone. God is everywhere, Jesus never leaves, the Spirit is in us, empowering us to walk in truth, and we have a community of faith to walk through it all together. That includes all of us here in this group! Let's be on mission to encourage one another to stand firm even as we ride the waves of life. His grace is sufficient for every tension.

One day is coming. Keep pressing on and pressing in until that day, friends.

Before I leave you to peruse the good things below and enjoy your weekend, I just wanted to thank each of you who have supported my writing through purchasing a copy of Consider: Reflecting on the Words of Scripture. It was a labor of love, and it is a blessing to hear how some of you are using it and being encouraged through praying Scripture. One last request! If you purchased one on Amazon, would you consider leaving a review so it can be seen in the pesky algorithms? :) Just a sentence or two on what you like about it is great! If you don't know how, email me, and I will walk you through it. Thank you, again! Enjoy this issue and don't miss the freebies.

In Christ,

Encouraging Podcast:

Marked-blog-post
Prayer is close to my heart as well as unity and diversity in the Church, so I enjoyed this episode of the Marked podcast. "Derwin Gray talks about his book, God Do You Hear Me? Prayer can be challenging and confusing. We don’t know what to pray for, we don’t know the words to say, and sometimes it just feels like there’s no one on the other side. Listen in as they discuss The Lord’s Prayer as the firm foundation God uses to build our lives on the Rock."

Moments of Grace:

  • I am finally feeling like myself again after two weeks with a sinus infection. Yeah!
  • 1 book away from meeting my first sales goal for Consider!
  • God answered a specific prayer for one of my kids. Still trusting Him for others!
  • Reading God's word and knowing He is speaking to me. Amazing.
  • 70 degree days in February!
  • Every one of you! I pray for you and hope I am serving you well as a sister in Christ.

What's New on the Blog:

Encouraging Good Work in the World:

  • Christine Caine's A21 ministry helps girls/women escape human trafficking and find healing through Christ. You can donate here!
  • When we fostered our two girls, Sammy's Window was such a help to us. Sammy’s Window clothing closet helps lift the tangible burden of caring for foster and adopted children so that more families can take on the care of children and provide free items. They always need people to donate supplies to help bear the burden of the financial cost of fostering, especially multiple children. Click the link to see what they need! If you aren't local, check out your area for a similar program to donate to - let's be the hands and feet of Jesus!

A final note of encouragement:

"For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope."
Romans 15:4

If you need prayer, please send me a message, and I will be more than happy to intercede on your behalf.
