Today is a day to remember the great price Christ paid to break down any barriers between us and the Father. If you haven't already, I would encourage you to take a few minutes to read through a gospel account of Jesus' crucifixion. Matthew 27 gives a detailed account. It is a great reminder of the seriousness of our sin and what had to occur to redeem us. It reminds us of the depth of God's love for us. And it shows us how beauty can come from ashes.

While the cross was ugly, God's purpose was full of beauty. He doesn't expect us to live in shame and condemnation for the sin He paid for. He wants us to embrace His grace and live in the light of our new identity in Christ -- to love others as He loved us. We need to think on the cross so we don't become complacent to return to our old life before Christ. And, we need to remember so we can move forward in gratitude and faith.

Aren't you thankful for the cross? I can't read Matthew 26-28 without tears falling down my face. I want to walk in the beauty of His forgiveness and grace, giving my life to the One who saved mine. I don't like my sin, but He never wanted it to break us. He gives us the power to grow and change as we behold His goodness. In His death, He was separated from God -- how terrible that must have been. That separation tore the veil standing between us and the throne of God -- this is the beauty of prayer -- don't take it for granted!

This is why we can refer to this dark day in history as Good Friday. God's plans are good. Even in suffering, He is working. We are never alone!

How can you worship and give thanks today?

Just a reminder that I have temporarily lowered the price of my prayer guide on Amazon. It would make a nice Mother's Day gift for someone you love! I also have $15 copies for anyone local ( or can mail for $19 within U.S.). Just email me if you are interested! I am thankful for all who have shared, reviewed, and bought a copy or two. It's been such an encouragement to me to keep pursuing this writing thing. :)
