The Art of Writing and the Power of Words

The power of words has always intrigued me. So has the responsibility to write words that use this power wisely. Our tongues and pens can create powerful movements that influence beautiful change and also in one word destroy all hope. Proverbs 25:11 paints a beautiful picture of what a good word can do.

“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.”

This is my greatest passion in writing. To craft words that help and minister to others. To pen something that glorifies God and brings light to the dark corners of our hearts and minds. I am filled with compassion and mercy towards people. I hate to think of people being lonely, hurting, doubting, and hopeless. I have been there at times just waiting for someone to speak life over me. So thirsty for encouragement.

Through the reading of Scripture, I have found those beautiful words. Time and time again, they have assauged my grief, replaced cynicism with hope, and provided wise counsel in dark seasons. I have also been lifted and educated through the giftedness of other writers. They have been friends through words written with a girl like me mind. I thank them for using their power to breathe life into the broken cracks of my life.

Writing in a way that leads people to see the undeniable beauty of Christ and His ability to make lives fruitful is why I keep plugging away at this dream. I know there are answers to life’s toughest questions, and I want to put my arm across shoulders and introduce people to Jesus. To build relationships that foster honest communication even when we may disagree. I believe the words of Jesus show this is possible. He held both power and mercy in His words with the seeker’s best interest at heart. May I always write with this kind of love and paint works of gold in pictures of silver.
